Building a Header
I'm going to try to do this to help all those that have tried to find help to build and install a canister muffler system on a H-9 1/3 scale plane.

I first had to decide if it was possible to install on the inside of the Sukhoi. This does not seem to be something I cared to undertake so I decided to install it under the plane. Well that didn't work it hung down so low it looked awful. The next idea was to try to hide as much as possible of this large canister set-up. The following will show you how I accomplished this and of course the final results.
These are all the KS muffler and header parts. I purchased them from Desert Aircraft, Dave was a big help, and with brazing rod I spent about $200.00 The front row is a 15 inch ruler for size reference only.
The header flange is not seen in this picture, however you can see how the pipes fit together before brazing.
I mounted the flang to the engine then fit the first 90' degree pipe to the flange this took some cutting and grinding to have it fit inside the cowl.
Fitting the second section was a lot easyer than the first just had to make sure it would miss the motor box.
You can clearly see the header flange and the first two sections of pipe brazed.
Test fitting did this about 20 times.
The last section fitted and brazed. I thought that the brazing would be more difficult than it was, if you have ever soldered a water pipe together you can braze a header for your plane.
Before fitting the muffler I had to remove the rudder servo this is the section of fusilage that has to be removed to make room for the muffler.
I opened the fusilage to the balsa stringers and installed the bracket to the first former. bracket was purchased from RC Showcase.
I used light ply to build the box between the first and second formers. That is the area under the wing tube.
The box finished with the bracket to hold the muffler installed.

The landing gear cover had to be cut up and rebuilt, I made to cuts hollowed out the foam cut the hard wood block flush and built up sides with balsa recovered done.
Test fit muffler and header
Landing gear cover finished and mounted.
Bottom view amost done, from this view you can see how mount works with (RC Showcase bracket) and o-ring.
Side view just need to install cowl
Cowl test fit.
Supersonic muffler weight 12oz's on my trusty postal scale.
KS Muffler and brazed header complete with clamps total weight on that same trusty postal scale16oz's only 4oz's more than the incowl muffler.
Special Tools
Mapp Torch from Home Depot About $45.00
These last two pictures show the finished install, and how much of the KS muffler shows below the fusilage.
It's ready for flying now all we need is some good weather.
