Hanger 9 Edge 540
       Canister tunnel Installation
Some pictures of canister tunnel. I split the tunnel to make it wider so that more air could pass to cool muffler then added the elbow to redirect air out the bottom of fuselage still working on that part.

Tunnel exit bottom of fuselage cut out to match tunnel elbow. Used a piece of lite ply for a floorto mount elbow and attach covering to.
Canister tunnel installed finished it this weekend. You can see how I centered the canister in the tunnel used silicon tubing cut to fit 3/8 lite ply mounts. Made extentions out of fiberglass to reach bottom of fuselage epoxy everything in place hope it works?

THE PLANE

First Flight Saturday May 14, 2005
3 clicks of down trim and it was locked in. This               Hanger 9 Edge 540 is by far the best ARF that they       have brought to this hobby since I've flown my first     ARF on September 3, 2000 when I started.

Building

The plane whent together with ease all parts fit with      no gaps, color match was good except for cowl, final     weight dry last time I weight it it was under 22lbs.          with no cabon fiber parts except tail wheel.

Parts List

1. Kavan 4in. wheels
2. Dubro axles
3. Servo's all Hitec (1) 5955 rudder, (2) 5945 elevater           (4)  5645 ailerons (2) 5475 on choke and throttle.
4. H-9 pro links on all servo's
5. H-9 rocket city control horns on all but rudder,               rudder has dubro ( I did this to have pivot point             on hing line).
6. Dubro 32 oz. fuel tank with Jersey Modeler fuel fill         fittings.
7. I4C servo isolater
8. Maxx products and Air wild extensions
9. Batteries: (2) 6vt. 2100ma NIMH for servo's, (1)               4.8vt. 1650 ma NIHM for ignition and (1) 4.8 vt.               700ma NIHM for receiver.

THE POWER

  ZDZ-80 single blue head.

This is my secound ZDZ-80 this one has a different    carburater and seems to run very smooth no                 abnormal vibrations. Have run this week end Sat.         and Sun. about one gallon of gas thru it and                 already it idles at 1500 RPM. Running rich on my         tach it's about 5700 to 5800 with a MSC 25x10               balanced prop.with 32 to 1 oil mix.

  Exhaust System

The exhaust is made up of  a K7S 89VS muffler and       header pipes from desert Aircraft that also come         from K&S along with couplers clamps silver rod for     brazing.and all other necessary parts.

  Noise Level

The only noise I heard was from the prop, it is by far    the quitest plane at the field this weekend. I will get     some db readings after it has a couple of gallons          thru the engine, My guess is that it will come in           under 98 db's at 3 meters (9 feet). I enclosed the           muffler in a tunnel in side the fuselage it has to             have something to do with the noise it's weird              flying a large gas engine with only prop noise.
